Buchanan Under Fire, Pt. 1 of 2

Congressman Vern Buchanan was elected into Congress four years ago without much controversy. When the seat was vacated by a woman named Katherine Harris, Buchanan naturally fit the bill for election to the House seat. He had money and a connection of people including former President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Governor Mitt Romney. The 13th District in Florida is a widely competed after seat and it comes with a lot of controversy when voting is over. Buchanan won the recount with less than 400 votes after complaints over the ballot machines surfaced forcing the recounting of all the votes. Buchanan spent the most money in 2006 going after the seat with over $5 million dollars.

Now that Buchanan is almost finished with his reelection campaign a large group of former employees and other people have come forward with allegations of corruption to try to stop his re-election into the House of Representatives. Several former employees have sued Buchanan saying he tampered with the books and used illegal workers at the dealership. Most of these former employees are Republican and this is thought to part of a scandal to get Buchanan, a Democrat out of the House seat.
